Doug Leech, an innovator and leader in the behavioral health sector, has spent nearly a decade developing successful businesses, including public/private partnerships for property development. He founded Ascension Recovery Services, a national leader in creating comprehensive behavioral health systems.
To expand the reach of these initiatives, Mr. Leech established Ryker Douglas, a limited liability holding company with a diverse portfolio of business interests spanning multiple sectors.
Ryker Douglas’ mission is to facilitate growth within diverse market segments, redevelop underperforming or vacant assets into revenue generators, manage complex transactions with investors, and strategically acquire healthcare-related companies. Recent projects include a $5.5 million development of a substance use residential treatment center, a $2.1 million outpatient clinical office, and a $3.1 million redevelopment of a medical complex in West Virginia. Over the next two years, Ryker Douglas is projected to assist in the acquisition and development of more than $50 million in assets, partnering with kathy ireland® Worldwide and other entrepreneurs.
The tremendous growth of Ascension Recovery Services has demonstrated the power of replicable, high-quality business models for behavioral health systems. This success inspired Mr. Leech to broaden his focus and create Ryker Douglas as a platform to help other enterprises expand their impact, diversify, and leverage emerging market trends.
Meet the Team
Douglas M. Leech
Executive Chairman
Douglas M. Leech has a B.S. degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University and worked at Ernst & Young in Pittsburgh before returning to Morgantown, West Virginia and founding Ascension Recovery Services (Ascension RS). Through his struggles with addiction and subsequent recovery, Mr. Leech developed a passion for helping those suffering from the disease of addiction and set out to increase access to substance use disorder (SUD) treatment across West Virginia and the country. Ascension RS is the national leader for developing comprehensive behavioral health systems that provide the highest quality clinical care with a sustainable business model.
Mr. Leech also founded West Virginia Sober Living (WVSL), a self-sustaining 501(c)(3) non-profit, operating recovery residences, job creation and reintegration programming, and a network of peer recovery coaches providing broad community support for SUD throughout West Virginia.
Through Mr. Leech’s work starting Ascension RS and growing it to be a nationally leading organization, he saw an opportunity to help scale and grow businesses across multiple sectors through collaboration and innovative partnerships. There was a big need for a company to help serve as the catalyst for this growth and to be a partner with other exciting and innovative, market disrupting, start-up companies.
